General Meeting
Meeting was
called to order at
Introductions
around the table were made and visitors were welcomed.
There were no
minutes read nor a Treasurer’s Report due to the fact that
Vivia’s computer hard-drive crashed. She will have all financials for
the October 2004 meeting.
What does Morse Code and the grocery store have in common, this question was
asked on a Monday Night New several weeks age. Don Vander Poldar gave us the
answer by telling us the true story behind bar-coding as we know it today. A
Ham on the beach running his fingers through the sand on
Elmer Dickson
gave us an example of how “double communications” can take place with no one
knowing it. In brief:
He as Jean, his wife, were on a flight with their son, Paul, as co-pilot (I
believe). As they passed over former home towns, colleges, etc. Paul would
point them out. We all are sure that the other passengers on the flight thought
he as just giving landmarks in general, not personal ones.
Charles gave a
report on the Radio Room during Hurricane
The cable went out for the
television. Eddie Martin got solder and a paper clip, and made an antenna that
would pick up two stations.
Hans, while on
his latest trip, visited an engineer friend of his that he has not seen in
decades. He designs artificial limbs, and showed Hans some of the technology
that goes into that. Absolutely amazing what can be done today, but the price
is very high.
Danny Zirpoli
headed a discussion on “Physic Radio”. He gave hand-outs and told of his
experiences in his home. There have been very spell-bound “happenings” at the
Zirpoli home. Maybe we should have saved that presentation for October,
Halloween month.
As more Hams
share their experiences and findings, our meetings are getting more and more
interesting. We thank all those who have shared experiences with us and have
made presentations for us.
Next meeting,
Respectfully
