Sarasota Amateur
Radio Association
General Meeting
June 15, 2004
Meeting was called to order at
8:01PM by Pres. Martin.
Introductions and call sign swapping
were made (I used my own call this time!) while our guest speaker for the evening, DENNIS,
K1YPP, prepared for said engagement.
DENNIS, apparently a fairly frequent
visitor to what I would refer to as extremely COLD climates, gave a highly interesting
talk with accompanying slide show of his 1987 trip thru Canada to Alaska. This trip was
done on a motorcycle (and not a larger variety at that) with just the necessities that
included (of course) a twenty-meter ham rig just so he could do some CW in the land of the
midnight sun. Actually, he did other things also, like changing a tire, staying well away
from bears and not catching a cold.
A very interesting evening, DENNIS
fielded questions well thru the refreshment period.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30PM.
Motion-Fritz; 2nd-Vivia.
